Adidas is the largest sports fashion brand in Europe, and is specialised in developing shoes, sports clothing, and sports accessories. Adidas also has a stunning collection of sport specific sunglasses. That is to say, sunglasses with a design optimised for a particular sport or a particular branch of sports. Adidas offers a great series of sunglasses for cyclists, runners, and a luxury line of golf sunglasses, to name but a few. You can browse the complete collection of Adidas sunglasses on this page, or search by sport in our sport sunglasses overview to find the model that suits your needs best.
The sport specific sunglasses designed by Adidas come with a range of fantastic features to guarantee the best performance and ultimate comfort, from the strong performance lenses to the light and sturdy frames. Many Adidas models come with adjustable nosepads and temples, for instance, which allow you to perfectly adapt the sunglasses to the unique shape of your face.
Adidas Lenses and Frames
The Lens Lock System™ and the Quick-Change Lens System™ keep the lens securely locked into the frame, while also allowing you to click free and replace the lens with ease. The Adidas Traction Grip™ coating provides a secure grip you can rely on at all times. However, should you ever fall, the Quick-Release Hinges™ make sure the temples will not get caught in your helmet and snap. The temples will spring free when twisted or over-extended, without any damage to the structural integrity of the frame. Afterward, you can easily click them back into place.
Adidas Clima-Cool™ and Hydrophobic Coating
The Adidas Clima-Cool™ ventilation system keeps your lens fog-free. The Clima-Cool™ directs a subtle airflow past the inside of the lenses. This prevents moisture from adhering to the inside surface of the lens. Droplets will slide right off the outside surface thanks to the Adidas Hydrophobic Coating. Since dirt and dust cannot adhere to the surface of these lenses, droplets will not leave any stripes or stains as they slide off.
Flexible Extra Features
Adidas sunglasses can be adapted to your personal needs and sports adventures with all kinds of additional extras. Select a model with a replaceable sweatbar that keeps the sweat from dripping into your eyes, for instance. Some Adidas models also come with a removable headband, or a vented removable nose shield for those who like to travel at the highest speeds.
Adidas RXO™ Insert
For those who wear prescription glasses, a number of Adidas sport sunglasses can be equipped with a special Adidas RXO™ Insert. This insert can be ordered separately. You can click the RXO™ insert onto the inside of your Adidas sunglasses, and have your own optician grind the lenses according to your exact specifications.
History of Adidas
Adidas was founded in 1949 in Herzogenaurach in Bavaria. More than twenty-five years before founding Adidas, Adi Dassler began designing shoes together with his brother Rudolf in their shared company the Gebrüder Dassler Schuhfabrik. Their father was also a shoemaker, so shoes truly were a family business.
All Day I Dream About Sport
In the 40s, the Dassler brothers repeatedly butted heads, and in the end Rudolf Dassler left the business to start his own sports brand, Puma. Rudolf originally named his new company RuDa, a contraction of his first and last name. When Adi Dassler founded Adidas in 1949 he used the same trick to come up with a new brand name. Although it is often said that Adidas is an acronym for “All Day I Dream About Sport,” this phrase was invented much later. Adidas is simply a contraction of Adi and the first three letters of his surname.
The Dassler brothers remained bitter rivals for the rest of their lives. They fought over the sponsorship of individual athletes, sponsored rival football teams, and took their rivalry to such extreme levels that Herzogenaurach become known as “the town of bent necks” because you only had to look at a person’a shoes to know whose side they were on. Even though the Dassler brothers are buried in the same graveyard, their graves are spaced as far apart as possible.
